Who the Hell is Dooce?
“What the Dooce” is a phrase common to me, uttered from Stewie on Family Guy. Until I started blogging, that was about
all I ever heard of the word Dooce.
But now as I hang out, not too much because I am trying to become agoraphobic, with blogger friends, they shiver at the spoken word….”Dooce.” They would give their left testicle to meet Dooce. They would re-join the Mormon church if it meant becoming friends with Dooce. They would give up their first born to be like Dooce.
So all I could think was, “What the Dooce?”
So I checked out www.dooce.com, which has a registered trademark. Hmm. In it for the business and money. No comments allowed. I read some blog posts, but realized that I really have nothing in common with this Dooce person. But I really like and respect my friends who like this Dooce person, so I will check out her blog site from time to time. It seems like she has a huge enough following that she doesn’t need one more who only checks her out ’cause her friends like her.
Kudos to her that she can make a living blogging.

I know, for so “famous” a blogger, I hadn’t heard of her until Sarah Nielson posted about their joint interview with Vanocur. So I checked out her blog, read one post, and wasn’t quite enthralled enough to keep reading, but I put her in my RSS Reader just to give her a fair chance.
I have read several of her posts over the last couple of months, including the archives, and what I like about Dooce are the same things that I like about Sarah … their straight forward writing and their having the guts to publish those honest thoughts. Sounds like you are on your way as well.
@Sra and @Keith I too am a big Sarah fan. And she’s hot. That always is a plus
Well, if it weren’t for Dooce (who I have read for several years now) I wouldn’t have found Sarah and in turn would not have found you. You are all doing a great job! The one thing we all have in common is being ex-mormon! We should start a club or rather a support group. Big difference for me is that I escaped to Georgia.
