When Did I Become My Mom?
When I was young, we would chuckle at mom, who would fall asleep sitting up on the couch while we were watching one of the three black and white channels on TV. Okay, counting PBS there were five channels.
Sunday night I got about four hours of sleep. Last night, my daughter and I were in the lounge, both doing some computer work. I put my laptop down, waiting for an hour to see the Daily Show. Next thing I know, my daughter is pulling me out of the chair, telling me I need to go to bed.
She pulled my hand and directed me to my bed, where I undressed and threw my clothes on the floor (I never do that). She asked me if I needed to take any medicine, filled up my water bottle for me, and tucked me in.
I feel bad that I laughed at my mom as a young child. I get it now. And she had a much harder job. She was a stay-at-home mother of five kids.

I’ve only got one and I have NO idea how my mom raised 7 of us…
Isn’t it funny how much more we understand our moms once we start to do some of the same things they did.
I started to appreciate my mom so much more after I started having kids. We are two completely different types of people, she’s religious mormon, I’m the devil, but I get it so much more now.
