Wednesday Ramblings

I’ve been at my new job a month and was going to write a post about that. But I don’t feel like it. So I am going to ramble, and some of it will be about my new job, but some of it might be about clouds.

  • I need a new mattress. But am a bit afraid to spend the money until I see what the economy is doing.
  • I need a new clothes dryer. Ditto above.
  • It is difficult going from an $800 desk chair to an $89 one.
  • My daughter dropped a tampon out of her locker yesterday. She was too embarrassed to pick it up and left it on the floor. Later that day over the loud speaker, the office secretary told all students to keep the hallways clean and pick up after themselves.
  • It is difficult going from a job where I had 26 days a year of PTO, to zero days a year. Would that have made a difference in my decision? I don’t know. Should I have got a clue when I kept asking for my offer in writing and never got it? Probably.
  • As a thrill to my ego, a former competitor of my last employer found out I left my past job and wants to hire me as a freelance consultant. I am reviewing my non-compete and think I can do it because of the distance I live from my last job. Haven’t decided yet, but want to childishly rub it in the face of my former boss.
  • Rich Brother’s new business venture is still in the “trying out the concept to see if it will work” and has had some nice sales success already. I should know if it is a go by the end of the year.
  • I enjoy my commute. 20 minutes is so much better than 90 minutes. I love being able to drop off my daughter at school every morning for the first time since she was in kindergarten. She loves it too.
  • I feel like crap this morning. Probably because I slept so poorly last night (see item one above).
  • Three people in the office know I am voting for Obama. Because people see me drink coffee, I would assume some know I am not Mormon. I have successfully evaded questions about my daughter’s father without lying.

That’s about it for today. ISTTITNOJC, Amen.
