My Daughter’s Christian Education
We were driving home from the Sprint store, where I had to purchase a new phone charger for my daughter’s phone. She vacuumed up the old one on accident. It broke. How could I be mad? She was VACUUMING!
In front of us was a license plate with some numbers and then the letters NUN. She looked perplexed, and then asked me, “what is a NUN?”
“Well, a nun is a woman who does everything for her church.”
“Oh,” my daughter said. “Your sister is a nun.”
“Well, no, your aunt isn’t a nun. Nuns are usually Catholic and live at the church and don’t get married.”
“How come they don’t get married.”
I explained to my daughter that the nuns don’t get married because they think they get married to Jesus.
“But mom, Jesus is already married.” And I asked her who Jesus is married to. “Well, I don’t know, but he is married. And I had a dream and I think it was heaven because it was all white and bright. And Jesus’ dad got killed.”
Ah. I have done well in my lack of theology lessons with my beloved child.

Nice!
This would be a great opportunity to teach your daughter about many of the different religions here on Earth. Take her to a Catholic mass sometime (they are way cool), and give her a book on eastern religions. Much of that stuff is very eye-opening.
Oh… I should also add: I’m not advocating religion for moral or spiritual purposes. I think religion in and of itself is one of the greater evils in the world. I’m just saying that there are very many interesting things about religion, and knowledge is fundamental to everything. The more you know, the better you are. Religion is a fascinating topic, and there’s so much you don’t learn growing up in the US (ans especially Utah.)
lol, I hope to do as well with my kids.
