Mormons and Homos in Utah, Oh My!
So everybody in Utah is talking about the Mormon church being willing to meet with a gay Mormon group. I really don’t care, but I do find some oddities about it.
Luckily, I don’t have to choose between being gay and being Mormon. And I can’t imagine being gay and a member of the Mormon church who wants to stay a member of the Mormon church. It is kind of like a black person wanting to be a member of the Ku Klux Klan, isn’t it?
Sometimes when I want a really good laugh, I read the KSL or Deseret News comment boards on stories just like this. The comments that stick out to me on this story are that God’s word is God’s word and we can’t just change the Church’s position for a “special interest” group. And they are right. My goodness, if the church did that, African Americans would be able to hold the priesthood today, for goodness sake.

Well said!!!
The contradictions are fascinating. Even more so now I am on the “outside” and can see them where they don’t (and I didn’t).

Ha ha ha, it’s funny how many Mormons are actually ignorant about all the changes in church doctrine and policy over the years. Maybe all the pre-1990 temple goers were so relieved that they didn’t have to mime slitting their throats during the temple ceremony anymore that they forgave the fact that the temple ceremony changed at all.
The KKK comparison is perfect.
Yes indeed, the never changing truth of the lord in the Mormon church. We shall all have things to blog about for years to come.
