Jesus is Just Alright With Me

I should have known not to open the attachment, when in the body of the email itself, the phrase “Come and get your *PRAISE* on!” stuck out like a sore thumb.

The woman who sent this is the company’s spammer. Buy gift wrap from her children. Contribute to her potluck lunch to raise money for a cheerleader daughter. Come hear her sing or act, because you know she is on TV shows shot in Utah. I don’t know why I opened the attachment, but I did.

“Greetings in the name of the Lord
The theme for this celebration is:
“We Offer Praise”
Scripture:: Psalm 9:1-2
Calvary Baptist Church”

And then it gave the time and date and other relevant information.

I have nothing against Jesus, or Buddha, or Mohammad, or David, or Abraham, or Shiva, or Odin. My belief is that a person’s belief system is true for them, and thus they will reap the benefits of that belief system. Mormons will go to the Celestial Kingdom, Hindus will be reincarnated, and so forth.

But sending out this type of email in the workplace is inappropriate and a case could be made for its illegality. And to the sender, I am happy that you love your church, your religion, and your god. But please don’t proselytize via corporate email, against that company’s email policy. And after all, this is Utah, and proselytizing should be done via suits and bicycles.

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more! Plus, I think it gives the respective Deity a bad rap. :)

  2. The funny thing is, people believe they are doing you a favor by sending you the email. I’m surprised this person is allowed to use work email in such a way.

  3. I hate it when personal things like this are distributed to a general work populace. That goes all the way around for everything: politics, anti/pro war, religion, sexuality, rallies, student fund raisers, etc.

    It’s highly inappropriate no matter WHAT the stand.
