If you fail to make your appointment…
In about one of every five meetings I set up, people are no-shows. They accept the appointment, say they are looking forward to getting valuable information, and then don’t come. Sometimes, they are the ones who set up the meeting…and then don’t show up.
I shower. I brush my teeth. I even have excellent information to share with them. They just don’t come.
How hard is it to check Outlook first thing in the morning? How difficult is it to call, email, text, or IM me to ask if we can reschedule? Obviously, I am not a priority.
So from now on, I am going to send an invoice to these managers who can’t bother to show up, even for their own meetings. If physicians can charge me if I don’t show up for an appointment, and I don’t call to let them know, why can’t I do the same?
Menu of Charges:
- No show for a meeting of <=29 minutes in length, $30
- No show for a meeting of 30+ minutes in length, $50
- Telling me afterward that the meeting wasn’t on your calendar, $50 (it was; I checked)
- Not telling your boss that you missed a meeting, $lunch
