A Saturday

Talked to my mom first thing this morning and told her I was going to work some more on cleaning out the “lounge” room. “I thought you worked on that for six hours last Saturday?” Yes, mom, I did. I obviously do not have her organizational or cleaning skills.

Went to the store and daughter scored three pair of capris, new sandals, pedicure set, and XBox 360 Ironman (partially allowance funded). I got shampoo.

Took three hour nap while grandma picked up daughter and went mother’s day shopping. (I was too broke last week to give her any money for a gift.) Daughter got me some gardening gloves and annuals, all of which I wanted. Oh, and the best part? A talking Greg Brady card. Score!

As I am growing out the sides and bangs of my hair, decided the back needed to be trimmed before it looks like I have a mullet (nephew in background begging me to have a mullet). Called sister and used her line, “how much do you love me?” Made her cut my hair straight across the back. Looks great. Sorry, but I’m not spending $40 for someone to do that while I am waiting for the rest of my hair to catch up to the length in the back.

Trying to support local establishments, we went for Mexican and the bill came to $22. At Taco Time it would have been $8. So much for that idea. The best part was that while we were waiting for food, there was a copy of In Utah This Week sitting on the table. So I opened it up and read Sarah Nielson’s article for the issue. I showed my daughter her picture and said, “I know her.” “Really,” said daughter? A little impressed. But then came the coup de grĂ¢ce. “But does she have a website?”

“Yes, daughter, Sarah has a website.”

“SWEET!!!!” That’s what she said! So Sarah Nielson gave me street cred with my daughter. A good end to the day.

  1. Ian lets me cut his hair, which is very brave of him. All the haircutting skills I have I learned from watching people cut my hair, so I’m no pro. We figure if I mess up, there’s always the buzz clippers to save the day. Home haircuts are awesome.

  2. mexican restaurants are the places that charge the most for indigestion it seems.

  3. And what you meant by “I know her” was “Duuuuude, I totally love this girls. She is bangin’!” Or something like that, right.

Can’t wait to see the hair post mullet-removal.
