A Good Ego Boost
I got a call this morning from a company asking if I could come in for a job interview this afternoon. The HR director was going out of town, and today was the ONLY time he could talk to me. Shit. I was dressed in my usual casual. I told the person I spoke with sure, as long as she told the HR director I was not dressed for an interview.
In the end, it didn’t really matter, the people at the company dressed as casually as the the company for which I now work. The company is in an industry I really know nothing about. But I know marketing. And the company seemed kinda cool. A lot of potential and at the top of their game with plenty of room to grow. I met with HR and two of the three people who would report to me if I got the job.
Everything felt good, because I don’t NEED a new job. That is the best time to interview. So I was open and honest and it was just a good experience. Even if they don’t call me back for a second interview, it was great experience. I am still hoping the project with Rich Brother works out, but that is six months away, so I might as well start talking to other companies in case it doesn’t happen.
The best part? I actually got excited about being able to have marketing ideas that would matter and help a company grow and meet their goals. I got excited for ideas that would matter. I got excited that maybe somebody was interested in me for my talents.
More interviews with other companies to come, I’m sure. But the process begins. And today was a great start, dressed in casual wear, wearing Birkenstocks, and feeling good about the entire experience.
