A Black Man in the White House
Posted on June 3rd, 2008 by Sterkworks
In the primaries, I voted for Hillary. I didn’t decide on her over Obama until the night before. And what made me pick her was a tape I heard of her talking about some work she did in her early career with disabled children. It hit home with me.
Tonight were the speeches. The primaries are over. And if Barack Obama does not become President, we no longer deserve to be a country. Throughout the campaign, he was gracious, a gentleman, idealistic, intelligent, and inspiring. If he does not become POTUS, it might be time to emigrate.

I think even repubs are fairly jaded by the status quo. At least the ones who aren’t still sporting W04 stickers on their cars (seriously, what is the matter with those people? why aren’t they ashamed?)
What are your thoughts on his ties to these radicals like Rev. Wright, Ayers and the priest. This is the only thing that concerns me about Obama. I just didn’t feel like there was any really good choice this time around.
Amen.
I hear there’s also talk of Hilary actually saying she’d join Obama as running mate. That means not only could we have a black man for President, we could have a woman for Vice-President. Personally, I’m all for it.
I think it would rock, seriously.
What this country needs is CHANGE. No more old-fogey conservative, status quo bullshit Republican stuff. We need to move forward instead of stagnating like we have been. Four years of McCain would be just like getting four more years of Bush. What we need is something different. Someone to stand up and say, “this is how we’ve been doing it, and that clearly doesn’t work, so we’re gonna start doing it this way instead.”
That’s what I think.
I think we all want change. But the question is: what specific change would Obama bring to the table?
All the traits you listed are great, but how do those traits translate to positions on issues and plans of action? I want anyone in but McCain, but I think people are giving Obama too easy of a time just because he’s *not* Bush/McCain.
I think it very likely that we will find him more of an agent of the status quo than most people expect.
